Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 2 Recap: Double Trouble

Welcome to the recap for Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 2. Last week, Karen’s DUI was the talk of the town. However, Karen kept the deets to herself, much to the dismay of the group. Gizelle also threw a “hattitude” party where Mia’s relationship choices were put into the spotlight. Did the party end on a high note? Here’s exactly what went down in RHOP Season 9, Episode 2: “Double Trouble.”

Fences were mended and broken again during Episode 2. Wendy and Gizelle had a meeting of the minds and decided to try and repair their friendship. Stacey opened up about her family and personal life. And Ashley was shocked to find out that Stacey’s new man didn’t want to be intimate until marriage. Karen and Gizelle’s relationship took a turn for the worse when Karen held an event at the same time as Gizelle’s. This put several members of the group in an awkward position, with security being called to clean up the mess.

Gizelle and Wendy made peace … for now

The ladies wrapped things up at Gizelle’s hattitude party by apologizing to Mia for implying she was a bad mother. Gizelle and Karen did not want Mia to think that. Mia accepted their apologies but made a mental note how they treated her. Gizelle then handed Wendy a bucket hat because their relationship was in the bucket. The ladies gasped at the tragic hat, but Ashley shared they were trendy. Wendy wore the hat with style and accepted Gizelle’s invitation to lunch. She was ready to share her authentic truth.

The next day, Gizelle and Wendy met up for some oysters and trout to hash out their differences. Namely, Gizelle thought Wendy could be condescending, and Wendy thought Gizelle alienated people. They decided to move forward and to tell each other in the moment if something was bothering them. After they made amends, the two had a good goss session over Mia and Inc. Gizelle predicted she and Wendy were on their way to bestie territory, but Wendy was not quite ready for that just yet.

Keiarna said not today to Gizelle and Ashley’s GnA event

Stacey had some family time with her daughter Arabella. She quizzed her on her Spanish as she made Arepas with Ora, her au pair. Arabella was going to Mexico with her father and Stacey wanted her to be ready. Stacey dished she is separated from her husband but they are still living in the same house until they figure out where Arabella will live. Stacey then got a record scratch with the news her daughter didn’t know they were getting a divorce. Oop.

Keiarna and Karen are besties for life after the two bonded over the dramatic GnA event from the Season 8 finale. Karen had checked on Keiarna after the fight, and the two stayed tight ever since. Keiarna was shocked to find out that she wasn’t invited to Gizelle’s hattitude party. But Karen gave her the tea that Mia and Jacqueline were questioning her like it was the inquisition. Karen then wanted to make sure Keiarna was invited to Gizelle’s GnA event. Keiarna said thanks, but no thanks. Once was enough for her.

Stacey reveals she and TJ are holding off on intimacy until marriage

Ashley and Stacey met up for a hike to chat about family and dating. The two discussed their children and if they embraced one side of their heritage over the other. Then Stacey spilled the tea that she and her husband are still living together while separated. That was too messy for Ashley. Her eyes got even bigger when Stacey revealed her current beau, TJ, was a devout Christian, so sex was off the table until marriage. Ashley couldn’t believe someone getting out of a long-term relationship wouldn’t want to try out as much merchandise as possible.

Karen popped over to Gizelle’s to catch up over freshly-baked cookies. She thanked her for the hattitude party but didn’t like the non-alcoholic drink on the menu. Gizelle swore she wasn’t being shady. Karen gave her side eye but moved on because Gizelle’s shadiness was why she liked her. Gizelle then shared the good news that she and Wendy had turned over a new leaf.

That was the perfect segue for Karen to bring up Keiarna not being invited to the hattitude party. Gizelle said she didn’t have enough room, it was nothing personal. She was going to be sure to send her an invite to the GnA event. Karen told Gizelle she was picking up an award the day of her event, but she would stop by afterwards. All seemed well between the two … until the next morning.

Karen put Stacey, Jassi, and Mia in an awkward position

Karen threw a wrench into Gizelle and Ashley’s event when she sent out a group text inviting everyone to see her get an award. The problem was the group had already RSVP’d to the GnA event, which was at the same time. Gizelle immediately texted back for everyone to go to Karen’s event instead. She scoffed, “What is she being honored for? Running into a tree?” Hope Karen is still a fan of Gizelle’s shade.

Vivien and Jacqueline kept their word and attended the GnA party. Although Jacqueline was annoyed that Karen did not include her in the group text. Gizelle shared that Karen was “livid” at her for the comments she made at the hattitude party. While Ashley told Jassi that Gizelle would be livid at them if they didn’t arrive at least an hour before it ended.

Karen mused that “the people have spoken” when all the ladies went to her event first. Jassi, Mia, and Stacey then rushed over to GnA afterwards and made the deadline. But it was too little, too late. Gizelle waved over security to kick them out. This season is already one for the books.
