There are some celebrities who want fans to buy into the belief that their lives and their relationships are perfect. But not Real Housewives star NeNe Leakes, because when she was recently asked about her relationship with boyfriend Nyonisela Sioh, she gave a very honest and refreshing response. "We're okay," she recently told E! News about her romance. "Could always be better. He keeps checking a few of my boxes, but we have some work to do."
The couple have been linked since December 2021, and NeNe admitted that the dating scene is very different now (she was previously married to Gregg Leakes). "Things have definitely changed since I met Gregg 25 years ago," she shared.
NeNe Leakes Discusses Her Relationship
In a recent interview about her new relationship, NeNe Leakes admitted to E! News that dating can be challenging. "Now, dating out here, I feel like the pool of men are not that great, and it's just hard to find someone that is emotionally available," she said. "I always say you want someone to come into your life that helps to elevate you or teach you something or just make you great."
She also admitted that their relationship timeline may not involve the traditional engagement and marriage, and she's fine with this. "I don't have to have marriage because I've had it before," she said, "but I certainly would like a really good, healthy relationship that has a lot of love and respect." But if the timing is right, then it is possible NeNe will get married again. Actually, it's something she would like, but she isn't holding out for it, either.
"I hope I get married again," NeNe confessed. "I'm just saying I don't have to. If I met a guy, and he said I don't want to get married, that is not a big deal to me. I understand life partners, and that's fine, too."
What Happened To NeNe Leakes' Husband?
Things between NeNe and Nyonisela may not be perfect, but that doesn't mean they're heading for a breakup anytime soon. If anything, it proves that NeNe is realistic about her relationship and how it can be imperfect. Fans will also understand that in the last few years the reality star has been through a lot.Her husband, Gregg Leakes, died from colon cancer in September 2021, and his death deeply impacted her.
NeNe has publicly paid tribute to Gregg, including with a YouTube video titled "I'm lost without you." The video includes a collage of photos from their time together and is a way for NeNe to honor her late husband but also share her thoughts about his death with fans.
