The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon showrunner David Zabel addressed the latest major character death from Season 2, Episode 4, titled, "Le Paradis Pour Toi." Zabel also co-wrote the said episode with Jason Richman, with Michael Slovis set as its director.

In the latest episode of Daryl Dixon Season 2, after helping Carol reunite with Daryl, fan-favorite character Isabelle, portrayed by Harry Potter alum Clémence Poésy, was surprisingly killed by Losang, which ended her brewing romance with the titular hero. As she died in the arms of Daryl, Isabelle made him promise that he would look after Laurent for her. Per ComicBook.com, Zabel opened up about the heart-wrenching moment, revealing why Isabelle’s death will be significant for Daryl. “For the moment when Isabelle dies, I think what we wanted was great dignity, intelligence, strength, and a really moving ending to the character,” David Zabel explained.

He continued, "Isabelle’s death hits hard because she’s touched something within [Daryl] that we haven’t seen before, and it’s because she’s so different from him. And it’s also because she’s tied into this boy that he loves, and now he has to make sure, after that, not to let the same thing happen with Laurent.”

In addition, Poésy shared what it was like saying goodbye to her character. "It’s a world where I guess you’re very used to saying goodbye. I think there’s an acceptance. I don’t think she’s fighting it. I think she knows she can’t," she said. "It’s been so nice, Season 2. It’s been such a treat to take Isabelle a bit further, and knowing that we were taking these two characters on a journey and exploring their relationship a bit more was just the greatest luxury."

"It’s a world where I guess you’re very used to saying goodbye."

Titled as The Book of Carol, Season 2 finally reunites fan-favorite Walking Dead stars Reedus and McBride as they reprise their respective roles as Daryl and Carol, who have been part of the horror drama franchise since the first season of the original series. Together, they’ll journey through post-apocalyptic Europe in search of a way back home.
