Recent report regarding Las Vegas Raiders only confirms suspicion that everyone has had all along

The Las Vegas Raiders may be busy this next week, especially when you factor in all of the news that is now coming out. First, it's Kolton Miller and him wanting a contract extension, and now it's something else with a pretty important position and role.

When it comes to what the Raiders still need, it feels like the list is now starting to grow, as they could add an offensive tackle on their list, if it wasn't already, and now they need another cornerback with the release of Jack Jones. And when you keep going down the rabbit hole, the needs keep going.

Now, after a recent report, we can add another one to the list.

According to The Athletic's Vic Tafur, the Raiders are openly trying to trade backup quarterback Aidan O'Connell for a Day 3 pick.

Aidan O'Connell, drafted in the fourth round by the Raiders in 2023, has started 15 of 20 games, going 6-9. He had 3,830 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, with an 86.7 passer rating. After a strong rookie year, including a four-touchdown game against the Los Angeles Chargers, he became the backup to Geno Smith in 2024. He also threw for 300 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs late in 2024, which may have been his best game of his career.

Now, the Raiders will be in the market for a rookie quarterback late in the draft. It's not a need they had to address this year, as next year's class could be even better, but it's something we always thought was possible.

This opens up the possibility of the Raiders drafting a guy like Ohio State QB Will Howard or Syracuse QB Kyle McCord, two late round guys that are young but have a ton of arm talent. And for Howard, he just played for Chip Kelly, so he knows the system already.

Or, they could package their new pick that they get, if they get one, with some of their other picks, and move up in the draft and take a guy like Jalen Milroe. The possibilities are endless, but if the trade happens, watch for the Raiders taking a quarterback.
