Recently-Fired Bruins Head Coach Signs New Deal With Eastern Conference Rival

This off-season, perhaps more than any other in NHL history, there's been plenty of movement within the coaching ranks in the league, with eight new Head Coaches announced since the end of the 2025 regular season.

Now, the Boston Bruins have got their guy, as they officially announced the hiring of Marco Sturm as their new Head Coach after going through two bench bosses this past season following the firing of Jim Montgomery.

Following that firing, the team turned to Joe Sacco as Interim Head Coach, and while he was reportedly given an interview for the full-time position, reports coming out of Boston were that the team were always going to move on from him as the Head Coach.

Now, we know Sacco's next destination, as Elliotte Friedman has announced that Sacco has already found a new home, along with new assistant David Quinn under Mike Sullivan with the New York Rangers.

This move completes the staff of Sullivan, who comes to New York with very high expectations, and bringing in both Sacco and Quinn is a good move for a team that needed a major culture shift following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.

Ultimately, it makes sense for the Bruins to not want Sacco back in the same role next season, and now he's quickly moved on, landing in perhaps a much better role under one of the NHL's best Head Coaches, so it's safe to say that he won't be too disappointed about his new role.
