While the Boston Red Sox have a number of holes to address this offseason, they could also be enticed to sign one of the best players in baseball to upgrade at a position that they already have covered.

Red Sox are reportedly having free agency meeting with $600 million superstar image

That seems to be the case for Boston as they consider targeting New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto, who is hitting the market for the first time in his career. The Red Sox currently have five outfielders for three spots, but according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, they'll be meeting with Soto in the near future.

Soto will also meet with the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets and New York Yankees.

Passan also noted that Soto is at the top of Boston's "want list" this offseason, even though they should be looking to add starting pitching, bullpen help and a right-handed bat.

However, it's not hard to understand why the Red Sox want Soto to call Fenway Park home for years to come.

In 157 games for New York this year, Soto hit .288 with a .989 OPS, 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and seven stolen bases while leading the league with 128 runs. He also earned All-Star honors for the fourth time in seven full seasons.

At just 26 years old, Soto could be the face of the franchise for the next decade-plus, and while the Red Sox would certainly have to reverse course on their spending plans over the last few seasons, it would be well worth it.
