The Boston Red Sox have a farm system that is loaded with talented position players, but when they got on the clock in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft, they added another - Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery.

Montgomery had a strong collegiate career, hitting .317 with a 1.073 OPS, 62 home runs, 203 RBIs and 17 stolen bases over his three seasons between Stanford and Texas A&M.

After submitting the selection, Red Sox director of amateur scouting Devin Pearson explained the pick.

“Braden is someone we have been a fan of for a long time, dating back to high school," Pearson said (via. The Boston Herald's Mac Cerullo). "His skillset fits perfectly into what we are trying to do here. He had a huge year in the SEC, and we believe he has even more development left. We are excited to bring in that type of player and, equally as important, that type of person.”

While it will be some time before Montogmery is able to make an appearance for Boston, he's just another prospect that fans can get excited about helping the organization down the road.
