In September 2024, Boston Red Sox legend Wade Boggs announced he had prostate cancer.
Boggs, one of the best to ever lace them up in a Red Sox jersey, had the same mentality he had on the field: He knew he'd do everything he could to fight the terrible news.
"With the strength and support of my family and my faith in God I'm going to ring that damn bell," Boggs wrote
In incredible news, Boggs shared on X on Friday that it's his time to ring the bell. Boggs announced he's cancer-free, getting the best news anyone could ask for.
"An extremely emotional day I can’t thank my doctor’s Dr. Engleman and Dr. Heidenberg enough also to everyone for your thoughts and prayers Debbie and I are pleased to announce I am cancer free," Boggs posted on X.
A Hall of Famer, Boggs earned eight All-Star nods during his time with the Red Sox. He spent 1982-1992 with Boston, slashing a ridiculous .338/.428/.462 with a 142 OPS+.
A 12-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove Award winner, eight-time Silver Slugger, and winner of five Batting Titles, Boggs was as good as it gets on the diamond.
Only 66 years old, it's great to hear he's cancer-free.
