Rookie David Hamilton began the Red Sox’ five-run fifth inning with a leadoff hit against Phillies left-handed starter Christopher Sánchez. The left-handed hitter connected on a 93 mph sinker and ripped a 104.8 mph single to right field.

Hamilton, who batted eighth in the order, then crushed a 399-foot, 104.2 mph two-run homer to right field in the sixth inning against righty reliever Spencer Turnbull.
The Red Sox overcame a 4-0 deficit to win 8-6 over Philadelphia here at Fenway Park.
Boston improved 34-34, the 17th time this season the club has had a .500 record.
Hamilton’s single to lead off the fifth was the first of four straight singles. Boston had six hits in the inning, including Enmanuel Valdez’s two-run pinch hit double made it 6-4.
Hamilton, Ceddanne Rafaela, Jarren Duran, Rob Refsnyder and Connor Wong each singled in the fifth. Tyler O’Neill had an RBI sac fly that tied it 4-4.
Devers hits third triple
Rafael Devers hit his third triple this season in the fourth inning and scored on Jamie Westbrook’s sac fly to right field. That cut the deficit to 4-1.
Devers didn’t hit any triples last season. He had three triple totals from 2020-23. He has 10 triples in his career, including four during the 2019 season.
Pivetta gives up 4 runs in 4 innings
Nick Pivetta’s fourth walk Wednesday came with just one out in the third inning. He hadn’t walked more than three batters in any of his other eight starts.
Pivetta threw 76 pitches (46 strikes) in the first three innings and fell behind 4-0 against his former team.
The 31-year-old righty went just 4 innings (93 pitches) and allowed four runs, six hits and four walks while striking out four.
Thursday’s series finale
The Red Sox and Phillies will play the final game of their three-game series Thursday here at Fenway Park. Philadelphia righty Aaron Nola (8-2, 2.77 ERA) will start opposite Red Sox ace Tanner Houck (6-5, 1.91 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
