Standout defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings, Moritz Seider, was spotted at the 2025 BOSS Open, enjoying a rare break from his NHL commitments.

The tournament, held from June 9 to 15 at the Tennis Club Weissenhof, is a prestigious ATP 250 event that attracts top tennis talent from around the world. This year’s lineup featured notable players such as Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe, all vying for the coveted grass-court title. 

Seider, known for his leadership on the ice, appeared to be soaking in the high-level competition and the vibrant atmosphere of the event. His attendance at the BOSS Open underscores his appreciation for sportsmanship and athletic excellence beyond hockey.

While there was no official announcement regarding his participation in any ceremonial roles, he was seen taking part of a game outside the event that showcased his football skills. Funny enough, the game was hosted by the Detroit Lions.

The BOSS Open, previously known as the MercedesCup, has a rich history dating back to 1916 and has been a staple in the lead-up to Wimbledon . Seider, is coming off a solid season, where he played all 82 games, recording 8 goals and 38 assists for 46 points. He showcased his all-around playing ability by contributing 162 shots on goal as well as 25:04 minutes of ice time per game.
