The Detroit Red Wings celebrate the birthday of their reliable backstop in Cam Talbot, who turns 38 on Saturday.

The Caledonia native has been with the team for just one season and was a decent option in between the pipes as he tallied a 21-19-5 record with a 2.93 goals against average through 47 appearances.

Talbot started off his Red Wings career on the best possible note, recording a 42-save shutout in his first start of the season versus the Nashville Predators. He would follow up the performance two starts later when posting 37 saves in a hard-fought 5-3 win versus the New Jersey Devils.

The towering 6-foot-4 goaltender made some dazzling saves in front of Hockeytown like when he mustered together 28 saves, including a potential game-saving stop on Tampa Bay's Anthony Cirelli in the final minutes to earn the 2-0 win for the Red Wings.

Talbot enters the final year of his two-year with an annual cap hit at $2.5 million per season and could mark his final season in the NHL. Through his 13 NHL seasons, he put up an impressive 2.66 goals against average and a .912 save percentage, resulting in a 266-195-47 record.

He will likely be the backup once again, behind newcomer John Gibson this season, and he regularly excels in the role after sitting behind and learning from the likes of Henrik Lundquist in New York and Mike Smith in Edmonton.
