REPORT: Alexeі Kolosov Informed Flyers He 'Dіd Not Wаnt To Return' To AHL

Philadelphia Flyers goaltending prospect Alexei Kolosov has reportedly told the organization that he does not wish to return from his native Belarus for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Kolosov officially joined the Flyers earlier this year, alongside fellow goalie Ivan Fedotov, and was assigned to start out in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The Belarusian goalie only played two games for the Phantoms through the tail end of their regular season and playoff run.

Reports have emerged that a combination of factors have led to Kolosov becoming disenchanted with the Flyers organization, with dissatisfaction with such limited playing time and an allegedly intense feeling of homesickness being the main culprits.

Kolosov has been training with the KHL's Dinamo Minsk (his former team) over the summer, and reportedly asked them to do whatever they have to do to terminate his Flyers contract so he can stay in his home country.

The Flyers' front office have not confirmed the speculation surrounding Kolosov's situation, but they have commented that he is expected to arrive back in the U.S. to participate in preseason camps.

Under his current contract, unless he agrees to an alternative solution with the Flyers, he legally cannot go back to the KHL this upcoming season.
