Browns sign former Ravens, Steelers receiver after a visit Monday - Dawgs By Nature

The Cleveland Browns move forward after the NFL draft with a roster that still has some holes that need to be filled. The Browns seven-man NFL draft class and group of undrafted free agents were not enough at at least two positions: wide receiver and safety.

We noted a few options in NFL free agency for both positions, as well as noted that former Cleveland WR Elijah Moore took a visit with the Buffalo Bills on Monday. As it stands, Jerry Jeudy is the only proven receiver with Cedric Tillman and Jamari Thrash following him.

WR Diontae Johnson now joins the fold after visiting the Browns on Monday and, reportedly, signing a one-year deal:

Cleveland will be Johnson’s third stop in the AFC North after starting his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and playing four games with the Baltimore Ravens in 2024.

After a solid start to his career, which included three straight seasons of over 80 catches and 880 yards with a career high 107 receptions and 1,161 yards in 2021, Johnson took a turn last year. The Steelers traded Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, where he played seven games before being traded to the Ravens.

Expecting a bigger role in Baltimore, Johnson refused to play in their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, which led to his release and being picked up by the Houston Texans. With three teams last year, Johnson had just 33 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns.
