Report: Denver, Tennessee to meet in matchup of promising young QBs in NFL season opener

The NFL schedule has been trickling out game by game over the past few days. So far, the matchups have been thoroughly compelling and that continues with a leak involving the Denver Broncos and the Tennessee Titans.

According to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, Denver will host Tennessee on the opening weekend of the season. The game will kick off at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sept. 7.

It will pit two promising young quarterbacks against each other. Bo Nix had a remarkable first season for Denver last fall, while Cam Ward was the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft by Tennessee.

It should be an early litmus test of sorts for Ward, who will go against a guy who’s had a chance to learn the ropes already. Nix is looking to snowball his early success into a second season.

During his first season with the Broncos, Nix threw for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns, against just 12 interceptions. He also ran for 430 yards and four scores.

Ward, meanwhile, had a productive senior season at Miami. He threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, while throwing just seven interceptions. He also ran for 204 yards and four scores.

Other NFL Games Announced

In addition to the Denver vs. Tennessee game, the NFL has also had another handful of games come to light ahead of the full schedule reveal. They are some of the marquee games on the slate.

One of those showdowns includes a rematch from last season’s Wild Card Round, where the Eagles defeated the Packers in Philadelphia. We have a date for that one, as the reigning Super Bowl champions will head to Green Bay in Week 10. It’s slated for Monday, Nov. 10 — a Monday Night Football on ESPN clash for two NFC contenders.

In addition, the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles are set to play a game on Black Friday in the 2025 season, the NFL announced Monday. The game will be available via streaming on Amazon Prime.

That’s not the only reveal, either. The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day during Thursday Night Football, the NFL announced on Monday. The game will be played during Week 17, likely the second of the two matchups the AFC West rivals will play this coming season.
