Vladislav Firstov was originally drafted by the Wild in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft after he played three years of College Hockey at the University of Connecticut.
He signed his ELC with the Wild in 2022 but only played in nine AHL games across two seasons. Firstov was then loaned to the KHL to play for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod after not panning out in Iowa.
But he returned to the Iowa Wild after his KHL season ended. He played in ten games and recorded two goals and two assists last season for the Iowa Wild.
His contract was set to end after the 2024-25 season but was terminated instead by the Wild on May 14th. He officially cleared waivers on the 15th.
Firstov, 22, could have signed with any NHL team but he instead has decided to sign with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL again, according to Elite Prospects.
