The Valley is reportedly headed for a “big cast shake-up” ahead of its potential third season due to the dwindling ratings of season two.
As the Bravo reality series, which follows the likes of Jax Taylor, 45, Brittany Cartwright, 35, Kristen Doute, 42, and several others, continues to face its lowest ratings yet, adjustments to the cast lineup are said to be looming as an insider has revealed that the possible season three cast likely “will not be the same” as the current lineup.
“It’s too early to say how things will go next season, they still have a lot of this season to get through but the ratings decline has been a big blow for the show,” an insider shared with The U.S. Sun on May 13. “Between that and the problematic behavior of Jax, the higher-ups are weighing the options over continuing with the trajectory it’s going in or regrouping. They don’t want to enable his behavior.”
“Putting the show on pause isn’t off the table either,” added the insider. “They’re not sure it can continue with the current way it’s going.”
Although the source clarified that The Valley isn’t “necessarily in danger of cancellation,” they noted that there was a “shakeup that needs to happen for season 3.”
When The Valley premiered in March 2024, its debut episode received 780,000 viewers, and the season as a whole averaged around 651,000 viewers. Meanwhile, the second season premiered to just 487,000 people, and its second episode was down from there at 423,000.
In more recent weeks, the Vanderpump Rules spinoff has continued to see record-low ratings. In fact, its May 6 episode saw just 360,000 viewers tuning in.
“The show cannot keep going on a downward trajectory like this. There will 100% be changes to season 3, if it does get picked up for the third season. Some people won’t return and new ones will be added. Who that will be is still to be determined,” the insider explained.
As for whether any Pump Rules alums would be added to the series for season three, there have been rumblings about Scheana Shay, 40, and Lala Kent, 34, being upgraded from guest roles to full-time roles.
“I know there’s a lot of complaints about bringing Scheana [Shay] and Lala [Kent] and other Vanderpump Rules alums back in a larger role but it might be necessary to move the show forward,” the source admitted.
Another insider told The U.S. Sun that as season two continues to air, Jax has grown “terrified” by his past actions.
“Jax has been trying to rally his Vanderpump and Valley costars to his side these past few weeks so they are publicly supportive of him when the season airs,” the source stated. “He knows what’s coming for him is bad, worse than anything he’s ever done and Jax is f**king terrified of fans seeing this new season.”
The Valley season two airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
