'RHOBH's Dorit Is Playing Hardball in Her Divorce

Dorit Kemsley has finally filed for divorce from her ex-husband, and she’s not pulling any punches. On the most recent season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dorit’s separation from PK Kemsley was one of the few compelling storylines. Viewers saw the estranged couple attempt to navigate their new, strained dynamic.

Dorit seemed determined to remain close friends and keep the separation civil, perhaps even hoping to reconcile with PK at some point. PK, on the other hand, immediately embraced being single and was intent on interacting minimally with Dorit. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has felt a bit stale the past few seasons; the cast is fractured, and it feels like they’re holding back. Many of the wives have been on television for long enough that they’ve begun heavily curating the characters they bring to the show and keeping personal matters away from the cameras. Maybe a messy divorce is just the authentic personal drama the show needs.

Dorit’s estranged husband, PK, has recently been spotted with a new love interest, Shana Wall. It seems PK has a type; Shana is also a reality television star, having competed on a season of Amazing Race, and she bears an eerie resemblance to Dorit. On April 24, photos surfaced of PK and Shana getting cozy and kissing outside the celebrity favorite Cipriani’s. Hours later, Dorit filed for divorce.

On this past season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dorit initially held onto the belief that she and PK were still best friends. She remained hopeful that she and her husband could reconcile and that they could continue to live as a family with their two children. By the season’s end, the estranged couple were hardly in contact, and Dorit had begun to accept the likely end of her marriage. So it's possible PK’s public displays of affection were the last straw, and Dorit took it as a sign their relationship was over.

There are rumors that Dorit has retained renowned Los Angeles Divorce attorney Laura Wasser to represent her. Known for her impressive roster of high-profile and even higher net-worth clientele —including Kim KardashianBritney Spears, and Angelina Jolie — Wasser has earned a reputation as an unstoppable force in family law. If this is true, it looks like Dorit is gearing up for an all-out legal battle.

The Divorce is a Potential Payday for Dorit

Dorit officially filed for divorce just weeks after their tenth wedding anniversary. In the state of California, a marriage that lasts ten years or more is considered “long-term,” which can significantly impact divorce proceedings. Spousal support, in particular, could be far more substantial, and without a definitive end date, payments could potentially continue long after the marriage is dissolved.

Did Dorit deliberately push past the ten-year mark before moving forward with divorce proceedings? The former couple announced their separation in May of 2024, so Dorit held off for nearly a year before filing the paperwork. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season, Dorit shared that PK expressed his desire to be divorced long ago. Perhaps she cleverly put things off until the divorce could play out to her advantage.

'RHOBH'S Dorit Plans to Take the Kids

In their divorce, Dorit is making some big requests. She’s seeking spousal support, as well as child support from her soon-to-be ex-husband. Over the years, PK has become known for his frequent financial struggles. He’s dealt with tax troubles, bankruptcies, and chronic outstanding debts to friends and casinos. It will be interesting to see how this divorce and division of assets shakes out, and to make matters more dramatic — the Kemsleys do not have a prenup.

Dorit will also be filing for full physical and legal custody of the two children she shares with PK, their son Jagger, and their daughter Phoenix. This season on The Real Housewives of Beverly HillsDorit expressed to her costars that she believes PK is not a good father. She revealed that their parenting schedule saw PK only spending Saturday nights with their children, and only if travel plans didn’t take him somewhere more important. The rest of the time, Dorit alone took care of their children. How custody will ultimately be decided remains to be seen, but it seems that this will get messy.

Dorit has been holding onto her diamond for dear life, and a high-stakes, dramatic divorce is the perfect way to secure her spot on the show for at least another year. The Kemsley’s split has the potential to become a full-blown spectacle, and it might be just what The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills needs next season.
