Real Housewives of New Jersey fans were marveled at the close relationship between Dolores Catania and her ex-husband, Frank Catania. Even though they had been divorced for years, Frank periodically lived with Dolores. And the duo worked together flipping houses. They were the best of friends and made their daughter and son the center of their worlds.
However, both eventually moved on with other partners. Dolores started dating Paulie Connell, and Frank was dating Brittany Mattessich. Eventually, Frank and Brittnay became serious, and Frank popped the question in October 2023. Afterward, the duo started planning their dream wedding. Unfortunately, two hurricanes ruined their nuptial plans.
Frank Catania and Brittany Mattessich had to switch their wedding date
Brittany and Frank planned to get married on November 9 on Captiva Island, which is located off the coast of Florida. “Hurricane Helene first came through and brought so much sand onto the island that the pools were filled with sand,” Frank told PEOPLE. “And the golf course and areas where the ceremony and the reception were to be held were also damaged by water. Even though there was a possibility that the venue could have possibly been repaired for our wedding on Nov. 9, no work commenced because Hurricane Milton was coming the following week,” he added.
All of this forced the couple to make a difficult decision. Brittany and Frank decided that it “was better off for us to reschedule for March 29, 2025, which gives the resort ample time to repair the resort back to perfect condition.” Of course, Frank delayed telling Brittany about their damaged venue. “I held off telling Brittany for like a day after I found out because I did not want to see her reaction. However, Brittany dealt with the news better than Frank anticipated.
“She would much rather reschedule for another date that was not in the hurricane season,” he said. “And would also give the resort enough time to repair the resort back to perfect.” Plus, the couple wanted their guests to have fun and not have to deal with damage to their venue. “We want our guests to feel like they are on vacation having a good time and it just so happens that Brittany and Frank are getting married.”
Captiva Island has a special meaning for Frank Catania and Brittany Mattessich
Thankfully, the vendors helped the couple. “All of our vendors worked with us incredibly. They were all available for the new date and allowed us to change our contract to the new date without any additional charges and inconveniences,” Frank stated.
Having their wedding at Captiva Island was important to the couple. “We had vacationed there before because Captiva Island was my mother, Dr. Lorraine Catania’s, favorite place to vacation in the world,” Frank explained. “She passed away in 2007 and made us spread her ashes in the water off Captiva. So, it would only be appropriate for us to celebrate such a happy and joyous occasion there so that my mother could be there.” That is so sweet.
In addition, Dolores, Rachel Fuda, and Melissa Gorga attended Brittany’s bridal shower. Naturally, Dolores was thrilled for Frank and Brittany. As for Brittany, she has no desire to be a housewife on RHONJ. Wise choice, Brittany.
