Love when an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City starts with, “I heard a crazy rumor.” As the news ping-pongs from woman to woman, viewers are on the edge of their seats trying to figure out who they are gossiping about. A wild night that led to a pregnancy? It’s only a matter of time before it all comes to a head at Sai’s dodgeball game…
Four days before this buzz hits the group, Erin meets with Rebecca, or Becky, as Erin calls her. They chat about Erin’s mezcal party and Rebecca’s award party. Erin wastes no time ratting Brynn out for being shady with her Nordstrom Rack comment. Rebecca doesn’t understand why Brynn would come for her career, since Brynn doesn’t seem to have a leg to stand on.
Erin then asks Rebecca about being Jewish and a Scientologist. Rebecca refers to scientology as more spiritual, as there is no worship or prayer, and states that she has been involved in Scientology since she was 18. She feels like people do not have all the information about Scientology and that they simply make assumptions. Rebecca suggests that people read more into it, but they should not read “Going Clear.”
Ubah is shopping for Oliver’s house in the hopes of adding some color to his place. Ubah explains that she cannot give herself 100% to Connecticut, and as much as she is excited, she is scared to leave the city completely. It will certainly be an adjustment. Speaking of adjustments, Ubah talks about her painful period and wonders if it has something to do with old age. She worries because she wants a baby with Oliver badly.
Rebecca invited Sai and her daughter, London, to check out her new line based off Wicked. As a super fan of Wicked, London is fangirling, especially when she learns she can take one item from the line home with her. Sai and Rebecca discuss the upcoming dodgeball game and Sai warns that she is competitive…
Brynn, Jessel, and Erin meet for some drinks. And the tea certainly gets spilled. Brynn discusses her New York and London tech teams, even though no one truly knows what exactly Brynn does for work. Brynn then chats about Ubah’s basic b*tch comment towards Jessel. She tells the group that when she talked to Jenna about it, Jenna referred to Jessel as “cute” and that she would have to “think about” whether Jessel is a basic b*tch. HOWEVER, in a flashback during a phone call, Jenna stated that Jessel was not basic. Oh Brynn…there she goes again with stirring the pot. Also love that Brynn left out the detail that she called Jessel a basic b, too.
Erin dives into the gossip pool and tells the girls that Rebecca is pregnant again, which explains why she is not drinking. Erin continues to say the identity of the dad is a mystery and that the baby daddy may not be Rebecca’s husband. WHAT. According to Erin, their mutual friend shared that Rebecca had one crazy night and boom. She got pregnant.
Racquel and Mel have invited Erin and Abe to a gay bar. Abe talks about how in college he questioned his sexuality and then we get to hear about Racquel’s sexuality and history. She states that she mainly only dated men, but was attracted to both sexes. Racquel talks about her marriage and when it ended, she chose to be true and honest about herself and has not looked back since.
Jessel takes her mother to her favorite jewelry store…with Pavit’s credit card. The mother-daughter duo discuss Pavit’s stance on baby number three. Jessel has since found a therapist to serve as a middleman to help the couple communicate better. On the topic of babies, Jessel talks about the Rebecca pregnancy rumor. Jessel’s mother makes it clear that Jessel should stay out of this drama.
On the day of the dodgeball game, these ladies come donning football gear, helmets, and butt pads, a sure sign of their athletic ability, or lack thereof. When asks about the “hot mic moment” in which Sai refers to Rebecca as boring, Sai laughs it off. But while on the topic of gossip, Brynn goes on to tell Racquel and Sai about Rebecca’s pregnancy. Brynn asked around, like a true gossip girl, and the news has been verified that this may not be the baby of Rebecca’s husband. According to Brynn, Rebecca and her husband have an open relationship and he doesn’t seem to care about this. Jenna is aghast to hear this news and the women restate that Erin knows because Rebecca told her.
When Rebecca arrives, the women hardly know where to look knowing this information. Brynn wonders if it’s like an orgy and refers to Rebecca and her husband as “sex-crazed.” When Ubah finds out through Sai, they BOTH wonder why Erin is telling this news to people as if it is her own.
As the pregnancy scandal keeps the tension thick, Jessel confronts Jenna about the basic b*tch-ness of it all. Jenna makes it clear that Brynn is once again causing the drama and Jessel realizes that she should have never believed Brynn. Jessel laughs it off and states that Jenna’s opinion doesn’t matter, but Jenna recognizes that this is a consistent theme with Brynn: she loves to twist words and cause problems.
The dodgeball game starts once Erin arrives, but Erin is less than thrilled that Brynn told the group about Rebecca’s news. Brynn claims she spilled because she was “hungover and loose lipped.” I’m sorry, what? BTW, I am so Ubah, eating a croissant watching the game unfold.
The blue team attempts to avoid hitting Rebecca (since she may be pregnant according to the rumors), but Brynn has no problem knocking Jenna’s sunglasses off her face. As the game concludes, Jenna finds herself next to Rebecca. She makes the decision to tell Rebecca there are rumors floating around about her and that she should be careful. As Jenna tips Rebecca off that Erin spilled the beans, Rebecca flips out on Erin. She storms off as Jessel sends a weak congratulations Rebecca’s way. Erin chases after Rebecca and…they begin giggling about a job well done.
You mean to tell me I was led on for nearly an hour and this was all a joke? Either Erin’s love for pranks (first it was the cockroach and now it’s this) has gone too far in an attempt to make a storyline OR they were trying to see how quickly a rumor can fly around courtesy of Brynn. If this was a test, the group failed miserably. At least they all know who they can and cannot trust now…
