During appearance at the Hayu FanFest in London in October 2024, RHONY star Jessel Taank dished about season 15, which the second season featuring the completely rebooted cast.
“Our season that is currently airing, we actually had to cut filming short,” Jessel claimed. “Someone got put on a plane, and someone got shipped to a hotel.”
“We had to separate, and they couldn’t film anymore,” she added.
Jessel did not elaborate further on the drama that shut down filming for season 15 of RHONY.
Season 15 of RHONY also stars Ubah Hassan, Jenna Lyons, Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank,Brynn Whitfield, and newbie Racquel Chevremont.
Fans speculated about Jessel’s claims and believed that the two cast members she was referring to were Brynn and Ubah, who have been at odds since the season 14 finale.
“Hmmm out of all the franchises all the seasons all the women being attacked over serious matters, these bozos had to stop because Brynn and Ubah’s drama was that deep? Puhhhhhhhlease,” one fan wrote.
“They’re just trying to drum up tea cause this season is beyond boring,” another added.
“It prob got cut short cause it was a snooze fest ??,” someone else wrote.
“So fake. This entire reboot is a SNOOZE and it’s a sad attempt to manufacture some buzz,” wrote another fan.
However, others believe that production was attempting to mimic past drama that took place during the original installment of the New York Housewives franchise.
“So fake. This entire reboot is a SNOOZE and it’s a sad attempt to manufacture some buzz,” one fan wrote.
“This will never be scary island btw,” a second fan commented in agreement.
During season 3 of RHONY, the cast took a trip to St. John, where Kelly Bensimon went off the rails and incoherently argued with her co-stars over everything.
She ultimately left the trip early and took a break from filming as the cast and production were concerned over her mental health.
The episode which was titled “Sun, Sand and Psychosis” infamously became known as the “Scary Island” episode.
The Real Housewives of New York airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
