Sonja Morgan has been banned from Tucci, an Italian restaurant in the NoHo neighborhood of New York City, after reportedly throwing a fit at the hotspot on Saturday night after staff failed to comp her $1,000 tab.
According to a new report, the 61-year-old Real Housewives of New York City alum attempted to evade payment, citing a number of reasons, including her role as a single mother, as she called owner Max Tucci in hopes of getting her meal — and the meal of her four guests — for free.
“She was absolutely hysterical and refused to pay. It was like she was filming a ‘Housewives’ episode, shouting, ‘I’m a celebrity!’” a source revealed to Page Six on May 12. “She was like, ‘I don’t pay; people pay me [to go to their restaurants].’ She was absolutely entitled and caused a scene about not paying.”
Sonja reportedly showed up to the restaurant with a reservation for three, even though she had a party of five, and mistakenly assumed that she would not have to pay for a thing. As the outlet explained, Sonja had planned to start at Tucci before heading to Boom Boom for a birthday celebration for her cousin, Jack Morgan, 30.
While Sonja, who received free meals in the past at Tucci, was said to have paid her bill in full and left a tip by Monday, owner Max confirmed she’s now blacklisted from his establishment.
“It’s not about me. Don’t do that to my staff,” Max told Page Six. “The cost of everything is so expensive right now [for restaurants], and she’s just taking advantage. … There was no arrangement for her to have a comped dinner. She just wanted free food and service.”
As for Sonja, she also spoke to the outlet, describing the incident as a “miscommunication.”
“There was a clear miscommunication … I believed I was dining in exchange for a promotional post. … I made that known to staff,” she explained.
Sonja Morgan appeared on The Real Housewives of New York City in a full-time role from season three until season 13.
