Real Housewives of Potomac” alum Candiace Dillard Bassett is opening up about parenthood.
In a March 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dillard Bassett discussed her and her husband, Chris Bassett’s decision to not show their 5-month-old son, Jett Maxwell Lee’s face.
“As long as we can protect him and his identity and his face, we’re going to do that,” said Dillard Bassett to the publication.
She then shared that her mother, Dorothy Watts, is eager for her to share Jett with the world.
“My mom is always like, ‘When are you going to show the baby? He’s so cute! Everyone needs to see the baby!'” said Dillard Bassett during the interview.
She also said that she and her husband “will show him obviously eventually.”
“But just for now, we’re just enjoying having him to ourselves. It’s really been beautiful to just keep him to ourselves,” said the former Bravo star.
Candiace Dillard Bassett Said She Would Like More Children
While speaking to People magazine in November 2024, Dillard Bassett said she and her husband were thrilled to welcome Jett.
“Chris and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so cliché to say, but he’s brought such joy to our lives in ways I never would have been able to describe before. It’s pure love!” said Dillard Bassett during the People magazine interview.
The 38-year-old also said she wished she would have “started sooner” having children. Dillard Bassett, who is the stepmother to Bassett’s three eldest children, shared that she “already want[s] more” children.
“And that’s a shocking feeling to admit because I hesitated and was afraid and doubted myself for so long. All of those circumstances around becoming a mom, like being pregnant, raising a child, etc.? It really scared me. But it’s been everything and more. I love it,” said Dillard Bassett while speaking to People magazine.
She clarified that she does not “regret that this is where [she is] now and that things worked out the way they did.”
“And in a way, that’s comforting to recognize I don’t regret it, you know? Like, I’ve really welcomed every part of this journey with open arms, as it’s happened,” continued Dillard Bassett.
Candiace Dillard Bassett Said She Wants to Bring More Awareness to IVF
Dillard Bassett has been open about conceiving via IVF (in vitro fertilization). During a September 2024 interview on the “According To Blake” podcast, Dillard Bassett said that she has made an effort to publicly discuss going through IVF.
“My goal is to talk about it as much as I can. Because as a Black woman, we have less access to resources and information, just about what it is,” said Dillard Bassett during the podcast interview.
She also said if she “had the information that [she has] now at 25, [she] could have frozen [her] eggs a lot sooner.”
