The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 has been a whirlwind. Karen Huger tried her best to come across as innocent after her DUI.
Newbie Stacey Rusch tried so hard to make her best friend, TJ Jones, happen. Fans were forced to watch Ashley Darby perform half-naked in front of her uncle while the women fought around her. Needless to say, Bravo viewers sure had their hands full with this season’s drama. But there was even more tea at the reunion, so let’s round up the best moments, shall we?
In Memory of The Grand Dame
Perhaps one of the weirdest moments for the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion had to be the fact that Karen attended in spirit. Instead of her physical body, all fans were given a video and a memorial photo. I kept having flashbacks to the Big Bang Theory when Sheldon refused to leave his room and instead put his face on a monitor and acted like C3PO. During part one, fans and cast members alike heard the voice of Karen tell them. “No, I’m not an alcoholic, let’s be clear.” The message continued, “I know a lot of young children look up to me — they call me Auntie Karen, the Grand Dame,” she said, telling them to “do as I say, not as I do.”
When asked about her reaction to the guilty verdict regarding her DUI, she noted, “My heart dropped.” A jury of her peers found her guilty after the bodycam footage was brought in as evidence and showed Karen telling police officers she was Thomas Jefferson’s “concubine.” Karen told the cast, “This is very frightening, but I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident. I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt.”
Gizelle Bryant turns out to be right
At the beginning of the Real Housewives of Potomac season, fans watched as the women chose to try to make two events on one night. Even though Gizelle Bryant had been the first to send out invites, many chose to attend Karen’s Femme Powered award. This upset the mother of three, and she chose to kick out some of the women when they arrived late. Honestly, the move made sense. During the reunion, Jassi Rideaux tried to explain her side of the story, but the OG wasn’t having it. I think it was a scene that was important to address and it even ended with a bit of humor. After Andy Cohen asked, “Are you the new Grand Dame?” Gizelle quickly quipped, “I’m Gizelle.” Yes, you are, queen!
Stacey Rusch has words for Mia Thornton
For the most part, Stacey has been a pretty great addition to the Real Housewives of Potomac. She might have been a bit stiff, but she eventually found her way around the group of women. However, who knew she would have such issues with Mia Thornton at the Season 9 reunion? It turns out Mia had invited Stacey to her birthday celebration in Miami. But upon arrival, Stacey was the lone invite left outside in the cold. Mia had gone M.I.A and Stacey had the juicy texts to show to Andy. In an attempt to distract the group, Mia started to cry. But Wendy Osefo wasn’t having any of it. She told Mia, “You start crying to seek sympathy. And Mia, as your friend, I’m sorry, but this stops today.”
Eddie Osefo drops a bomb
As we know, the men always come out for a quick Q&A. But this time, Eddie Osefo has a bit of tea to spill. Before going out on stage, Wendy gets a text which reads, “Hey babe. I got some news. Greg & I just Facetimed with TJ, and he dropped a bomb on us …” It turns out TJ has no desire to support Stacey at the reunion. He told the guys, “I ain’t going to that fake ass show with them fake ass people.” It turns out we have another Walter 2.0, as TJ claimed he was paid by Stacey to be her boyfriend. Obviously, she denied it and refused to Facetime him for answers.
Mia Thornton threatens to leave RHOP
For the entire season, Mia has been called out for her drama around Gordon Thornton and her family. During part 2 of the reunion, she was accused of exploiting her children and soon-to-be ex-husband. After a barrage of yelling, Mia tearfully walks off stage, saying, “I’m done.” The move came after Gizelle called Mia a “terrible mother.” Adding, “No woman, no mother would put their child on a platform to discuss his paternity. No mother would do that.”
