THe Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Bronwyn Newport slammed a critic who accused her of lying about her past, claiming that she’s tried to erase her ex-husband, Brodie Jonathan Stringer, from stepdaughter Gwen’s life.
“Bronwyn telling public lies to #RHOSLC fans. She was married before Todd [Bradley]. Her daughter [Gwen] called him daddy,” Reality TV Bliss wrote via X on Tuesday, April 22. “Bronwyn marries Todd. Remember at the reunion Bronwyn said when she caught Todd cheating he bought her a ring and made 5 new promises. One of them was promising to care for her daughter. He didn’t do that in the beginning. The only dad her daughter knew has been erased by her lies.”
Along with the accusations, the account shared professional photos taken of Bronwyn, 39, Brodie and Gwen, 18, who was a young girl at the time. Bronwyn and Brodie each shot solo and group pictures with Gwen.
Life & Style can confirm that Bronwyn and Brodie filed for divorce in Contra Costa County Superior Courts in August 2010. The final judgement was accepted five months later.
A screenshot of a past Q&A post shared on Bronwyn’s Instagram Stories was also included in the post.
Later that day, Bronwyn reacted to accusations by screenshotting the X post and sharing to her Instagram Stories.
The fashion blogger admitted that she was “torn,” but appreciated that she knows when “something this nonsensical is said.”
“But I also wish people wouldn’t send me all the nastiness I don’t engage with on [X] to my Insta DMs,” Bronwyn wrote alongside the image. “I let a lot of nonsense about ME go by on social media. But I do not play when it comes to my daughter.”
Bronwyn put it on the record that Gwen “has never called anyone by the title dad” and that her “first short marriage [to Brodie] did not bring a ‘daddy’ into her life.”
“For years before that marriage, and for years after it was only us two. Since then, Todd is the closest she has. I am disgusted and done with people discussing my daughter. My ill advised, brief marriage (which I have always referenced in my many public q&a’s and never hidden) to this man does not make him Gwen’s father,” Bronwyn continued.
The message was concluded after Bronwyn explained that the “photographer mistakenly listing him as her ‘daddy’ on these social media photos years ago does not make him her father in any way. She called him by his first name. He was never a father figure to her.”
Fans met Bronwyn during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 premiere in September 2024. Viewers were introduced to Todd, 65, whom she married in 2016. Gwen also made several cameos throughout the season and shared an emotional oncamera moment with her mom, reflecting on the absence of her late biological father. She had never met her father or his side of the family and declined her grandparents’ invitation to meet for the first time.
