RHOSLC’s Meredith Marks Reacts to Shawn Trujillo Drama: ‘I Didn’t Use My Son’

Let’s talk about “the huzzbands.” During Season 5, Episode 7 of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Meredith Marks and Angie Katsanevas continued their feud. But this time, Angie’s husband, hairdresser Shawn Trujillo, came into the mix.

Meredith explained, “Shawn went on this podcast and made a statement about [my son] Brooks [Marks], saying that I’m basically using him as a pawn to deflect from my own wrongdoing.” According to Angie and Shawn, the alleged wrongdoing was Meredith spreading rumors that Shawn was cheating on Angie with men.

“I didn’t do any of these things to [Shawn], yet he’s doing things to me,” said Meredith during Bravo’s RHOSLC After Show. “My son … to me, is a no-go zone — it’s not that hard. Like if I started talking about their daughter [Elektra], forget not being welcome in their home, it would be unforgivable forever. They should start being reasonable about what they want to hold me accountable for. I’ll start holding them accountable for the things they actually do.”

Meredith Marks claims she never talked about Shawn Trujillo

“Let me make this abundantly clear: I don’t need to think about Shawn having sex,” Meredith continued. “Can we please move on? I’ve never been the one discussing it. I didn’t use my son. This has nothing to do with my son, and it’s just offensive and rude and disrespectful and nasty. And if you can’t understand why I would be hurt by that, it’s insane to me.”

Angie defended her and Shawn’s position on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show. “[Shawn] didn’t bring her son into it,” she said. “She brought her son into it by making a TikTok, or a video somewhere, saying, ‘I would never talk about someone’s sexuality, [but] my son is gay.'”

“Shawn was asked a question by a gay man, basically stating, ‘I thought that was kind of weird that she brought her son in on it,'” Angie continued. “It did feel to me also that she was trying to use her son to say, ‘Oh, I would never‘ … I have multiple friends in the LGBTQ community [who] agreed that that’s what it looked like.”

Angie defends talking about Meredith’s son Brooks

Directing her comments to Meredith, who wasn’t present, Angie added, “Own the perception. If you’re going to say your son’s name, if you’re going to bring them in the middle of something, then expect it to come up on podcasts and in press.” Though I agree they should never talk about each other’s children (remember how Lisa Barlow reacted when Angie questioned her parenting?), I see Angie’s point.

“This guy [Shawn] let you in his house after you’re saying there’s ‘rumors and nastiness’ about him … and then going on Watch What Happens Live and saying, ‘Oh, it wasn’t that. There’s other rumors.’ There’s not all these rumors swirling around about my husband,” Angie concluded.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
