Robert Irwin Isn’t Ruling Out 'The Bachelor' — but His Mom Already Has Thoughts

The 20-year-old wildlife warrior isn’t shutting down the idea — though his mom, Terri, has some thoughts of her own. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Robert stayed coy when the question came up, instead letting Terri and sister Bindi weigh in. Their reaction? While in Las Vegas for the annual Steve Irwin Gala, Terri, Robert, and Bindi took some time out of their busy schedules to field some questions about the foundation, as well as some cheeky and jovial questions. One of which was about gauging his interest of being a future star of The Bachelor. Entertaining audiences since 2002, The Bachelor is known for its over-the-top drama and raunchy moments. Something that Robert is very much not. But shying away from giving a full answer, it was Robert's mom who had some thoughts. “I think he would break a few hearts," she told ET. Mothers know best, so perhaps she knows a little bit more about her son than the fans do. But does that mean it's not a possibility?

Of course, fans would be heartbroken to see him smooching with a potential suitor, maybe it's those hearts that Terri is focusing on, and not the contestants. Nevertheless, should Robert opt into that type of show, it could be the ratings smash the series needs. The problem is that the potential of Robert in this franchise may not be the right fit. As some pointed out, his kind heart and innocence may not be the right match to take on the rose ceremonies. Plus, are we actually ready to see the sweet young man engage in the antics the show is famous for? His only public romance was with Rorie Buckley, the niece of the late Heath Ledger. The pair dated for about a year and a half, with the Aussie star keeping any other romantic prospects private.

Robert Irwin Is Taking Over the World

While he essentially isn’t ruling out something as he’s looking for the right person, maybe ABC can launch a new series specifically revolving around him. Something a bit more wholesome and Australia-based, and bring Bindi and Terri on as advisors to the dating game. As fans know, the Irwins are an incredibly beautiful and tight-knit family, so making Robert’s dating world a family affair isn’t actually out of the realm of possibility. Though Terri didn’t shut down The Bachelor outright, she didn't exactly seem overly excited for him to join the show.

For the time being, Robert is taking over the reality world, one series at a time. Before he gets to wow America with his dancing feet, Robert has already taken on co-hosting reins Down Under on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Following multiple stints hosting family zoo programs, his jump to the celebrity reality series proved that Robert is being groomed to take over television as a host. While many might assume that he'd focus on a path started by his father, Robert might actually be the next Ryan Seacrest thanks to his affable charm.
