Lawyers representing goaltender Robin Lehner in his bankruptcy proceedings have dropped him after not having contact with him for some time
Yet another big twist in the bankruptcy proceedings of NHL goaltender Robin Lehner. This time, his own lawyers have told the court they are dropping him.
Robin Lehner has not played in the NHL since April of 2022 after undergoing hip surgery, announced during September's training camps that he would not play in 2024-25.
Later on, it was revealed that Robin Lehner has his assets frozen amid allegations of frivolous spending during bankruptcy proceedings involving him and wife Donna.
Now, his lawyers in the bankruptcy case have told they court they are dropping him because of a lack of communication.
'Throughout the Chapter 7 filing, communication with the debtors, particularly Mr. Lehner, has been difficult and often sporadic, requiring attempts to reach Mr. Lehner through individuals who worked to facilitate communication between Mr. Lehner and Larson & Zirzow [law firm].Since estimated early June 2024, communication from Mr. Lehner has completely ceased, despite repeated contact attempts by Larson & Zirzow using a variety of methods to not only Mr. Lehner himself but also to the individuals who previously facilitated the communication.'
The request from Larson & Zirzow to remove their firm from representing Robin Lehner has been granted by the judge. A decision has not yet been made on his wife Donya, and will require another court hearing.
Documents from the Bankruptcy court in Sweden show the Lehners have not yet found someone else to represent them, and may represent themselves moving forward.
Meanwhile, Robin Lehner is on the final year of a five year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights. The 33 year old becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
In all honesty, I will be surprised to ever see Robin Lehner in an NHL net again. Things took a very strange turn when the whole bankruptcy situation started, and have only gotten stranger from there.
