Ryan Guzman On Eddie’s Future On 9-1-1

   

Ryan Guzman got candid on his acting career, and where he sees Eddie’s future.Ryan Guzman admitted that he didn’t see himself as an actor until now. The 9-1-1 star reflected on his journey and shared what’s next for his alter-ego, Eddie.

What Will Happen To Eddie?

During the midseason finale, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) expressed an interest in moving to Texas to be with his son. In a new interview with Forbes, Guzman shared his thoughts on Eddie’s storyline and whether it would come to an end. While he loves playing the character, he’s open to Eddie’s journey, wherever it leads him.

“I love the character so much, and it’s been a pleasure playing the character for so long that I could see myself playing for a bit longer,” Guzman exclaimed. “However, if I woke up tomorrow and the character was no longer available to play, I would feel solid in the fact that I did my due diligence with him.”

Regarding the March 6 premiere, Guzman explained that Eddie will go through “big, big changes” involving his son. His utmost concern is his son’s well-being. “In the next couple of episodes, when we come back, you’re going to understand what that means,” Guzman teased.

Due to the success of the series, Guzman amassed over 1.1 million followers on Instagram. He reflected on how he maintains a private life despite his fame. Guzman doesn’t want to come off as a “perfect” human being. He would rather keep it real and share some of his struggles“But now, I’ve seen there’s such an opportunity with my platform to showcase struggles and trials and tribulations to humanize myself for my audience or for the fans that follow me, to maybe elevate their lives – to create some kind of connection,” Guzman explained.

Reflecting On His Acting Journey

The actor scored a breakout role in the Jennifer Lopez thriller The Boy Next Door. Then, he got the opportunity to show off his footwork in the Step Up Revolution. However, Guzman never saw himself as an actor until he hit primetime. “I feel like prior to being an actor on 9-1-1, I didn’t really call myself an actor. I thought I was just kind of following everybody,” Guzman explained.

Guzman was experiencing imposter syndrome. He worked hard to get acting roles, but he felt he ” lacked talent.” Now, he feels validated in his craft. Guzman recently co-starred alongside Isla Fisher and Greg Kinnear in the comedy, The Present. Where would his acting journey lead him to next?

“I’d love to do more action roles. I mean, I grew up on Rambo, the Arnold Schwarzenegger roles. Bruce Lee was my guy – that’s why I started doing martial arts at six years old and fought in MMA for however long. So, I would love to showcase that,” Guzman said.
