Sabres Hit New Low With Jaw-Dropping Stat

The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Boston Bruins last game by a 3-1 final score. With this, they extended their winless streak to 13 games and are tied at the bottom of the NHL standings with the Chicago Blackhawks. 

With this loss, the Sabres officially have their third 13-game losing streak since the start of the salary cap era. This brutal stat puts them in a unique position: According to Big Head Hockey, no other NHL team has had more than one 13-game losing streak since the start of the cap era. 

The Sabres infamously lost 18 games in a row in 2020-21, tying the 2003-04 Pittsburgh Penguins. They also lost 14 straight games during the 2014-15 campaign, which the Sabres will aim to avoid tying against the New York Islanders tonight (Dec. 23).

This is simply a jaw-dropping stat from the Sabres, especially considering that no other team has had multiple losing streaks of at least 13 games in the salary cap era. It will be interesting to see if they can get out of this massive funk soon.
