Team USA has been able to bounce back after losing to Switzerland earlier this week at the 2025 IIHF World Championships in Herning, Denmark, salvaging a 6-5 overtime victory against Norway on Wednesday after blowing a 5-1 lead, and on Saturday, besting Germany 6-3.
After being the scoring hero with a hat trick against the Norwegians, Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson opened the scoring for the US just 1:42 into the game. Thompson also assisted on Drew O’Connor’s first-period marker that put the Americans up 3-0, but for the second game in a row, the US surrendered a big lead, as Germany tied the game with three goals in the middle frame, before Conor Garland, Logan Cooley, and Clayton Keller scored in the third to vanquish the Germans.
The win has the US in third place in Group B at 3-1-1, who play Kazakhstan in their final game of the round-robin on Sunday.
