his Sabres defender is continuing to create buzz in the rumor mill.
NHL insider Chris Johnston released his latest NHL trade board for The Athletic. One Buffalo Sabres player made the cut, as defenseman Bowen Byram rounded out the list.
Here is what Johnston said about Byram as a trade candidate:
"The Sabres certainly aren’t shopping the 23-year-old defenseman, but he may be the piece they have to put in play in order to make a significant shakeup."
Earlier this month, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that Byram drew trade interest, but Sabres GM Kevyn Adams told teams he did not want to move him. However, with the Sabres needing a clear boost on offense, Byram is continuing to create buzz as a trade candidate.
Here at The Hockey News Buffalo, we recently argued why Byram should not be the player the Sabres trade in a possible splash. He has become a key part of the Sabres' blueline, and he still has the potential to hit another level. He has also had a strong start to the season, posting three goals, 11 points, and a plus-7 rating in 19 games.
However, we must wait and see what happens with Byram this season. He undoubtedly possesses much value, but trading him would come with significant risk.
