The New Orleans Saints cannot shy away from tough decisions this offseason, regarding long-time contributors.
Cameron Jordan is a name that many are keeping an eye on when it comes to his playing future with the Saints and in the NFL, as a whole.
Cam Jordan isn't retiring yet
According to Jordan himself, he's not ready to hang up the cleats yet. He wants to keep playing.
"Nahhh" -- Jordan when asked if he is retiring on Twitter/X
Jordan has discussed ending his playing career multiple times over the past year. Recently, he talked about how he can't imagine playing elsewhere, but both he and the team would need to agree on his role going forward.
"...The Saints have been the only home I've known, so if you want to shut that door for me, you're going to have to shut it for me because I'm not going to do it to myself. As much as I bleed, I think I only bleed black and gold, but if you force me to go bleed somewhere else, a soldier fights wherever, whenever, however."
"The city of New Orleans has always rocked with us. Even in a piss-poor season like this one, there's still all ... So I got nothing but love for it. So I was just trying to show a little appreciation and if it is the last one then I'm going to go out my way anyway..."
-- Jordan
A return next season for Jordan would probably coincide with another contract restructure.
It is unknown if New Orleans will be interested in doing that, or if they will attempt to do a bit more of a "reset" with their salary cap situation when it comes to costly veterans.
Jordan played better football in the second half of this past season, but they need more consistent production out of him. We will see how it all plays out for the franchise's leading sack-getter.
