We're looking at another recent New Orleans Saints mock draft, which should raise a few eyebrows for many.
Athlon Sports' Lou Easterling recently put our a four-round mock for each team, which sees the Saints coming away with an interesting haul. It has a very Ole Miss flavor to it as well. Here's who he selected for each New Orleans pick..
Four-Round Saints Mock Draft (Luke Easterling)
- Round 1, 9th Overall: Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss
- Round 2, 40th Overall: Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
- Round 3, 71st Overall: Kyle Kennard, EDGE, South Carolina
- Round 3, 93rd Overall (via WAS): Troy Horton, WR, Colorado State
- Round 4, 112th Overall: JJ Pegues, DL, Ole Miss
- Round 4, 131st Overall: DJ Giddens, RB, Kansas State
On the Dart pick, here's what Easterling had to say.
Is this way too early for Dart? Absolutely. Does that mean it won't happen? Of course not. The NFL has a long history of overdrafting the next-best quarterback on the board when a team is desperate, and that's exactly what the Saints are right now. Don't be surprised if they bank on Dart's upside by reaching for him here.
Dart is someone on the radar for the Saints, and that's hardly a secret. New Orleans is also heavily interested in Miami's Cam Ward and Texas Longhorns' Quinn Ewers. They've done a considerable amount of homework under new head coach Kellen Moore, and it's more about the future of the team for 2026.
Derek Carr is who New Orleans wants to lead things this season, but obviously that has been a rocky relationship since Moore came on board. The Saints do need to address some of the positions that are in this mock, so it's good to see a mix of both defense and offense, particularly for the pass rush.
Everyone will have their own opinion on how the Saints should use their picks in the draft, and we'll get answers on what they actually do in less than three weeks.
