Saints Interim Coach Darren Rizzi Expected To Land New NFL Job

New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi is set to land with an AFC team for the 2025 season.

Saints Interim Coach Darren Rizzi Expected To Land New NFL JobPer NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , Rizzi is expected to land with the Denver Broncos and become their special teams coach.

He's been with the Saints since 2019 when Sean Payton was still the head coach and will reunite with Payton now that he's the head coach of the Broncos.

Rizzi was the Saints' interim head coach for eight games, during which time he compiled a 3-5 record. He replaced Dennis Allen after the Saints fired him during the 2024 season.

Rizzi started out as the special teams coach from 2019-21 before being promoted to assistant head coach in 2022.

The Saints are trying to hire Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and have another interview scheduled with him after Super Bowl LIX next weekend. If all goes well, there's a good chance that Moore will be the next head coach of the Saints.

Moore generated interest from the Dallas Cowboys during their interview process but they ultimately decided on Brian Schottenheimer. Owner Jerry Jones felt he was the best candidate for the job after serving as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator this season.

The Eagles hired Moore as their offensive coordinator for this season and he's done a great job with that unit. Saquon Barkley has had the best season of his career under him and he has also helped Jalen Hurts develop more as a quarterback.

Hiring Moore would make sense for the Saints regardless if they want Derek Carr starting at quarterback or not. They also may want to see more out of Spencer Rattler since he played sparingly during the 2024 season.

The Saints will have the ninth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after finishing 5-12.
