Saints legend Jimmy Graham etches name in record books after this historic feat
Jimmy Graham has completed the most difficult feat of his life − up until this point. The legendary New Orleans Saints tight end was a part of a four-person team that set a world record for crossing the Arctic Ocean on Monday.
The 584-mile challenge took a little over 10 days, according to the Saints.
The quartet starring Graham also included Andrew Tropp, Hannah Huppi and John Huppi. The group set a new world record, breaking the previous record of 15 days, five hours and 32 minutes from Ocean Revival in 2023.
The group was the first mixed-gender team to cross the Artic Ocean, and the first all-American team to cross a polar ocean. Graham is the first Black person to cross a polar ocean and Hannah is the first American woman to cross a polar ocean.
"It's been raining non-stop for 24 hours," Graham said during the challenge. "No sun for 72. We're officially in battery conservation mode. Everything's wet. Everything's cold."
The goal of the challenge was to help raise money for Covenant House New Orleans, a homeless shelter, and Laureus Sport for Good New Orleans, an organization focused on developing sports programs for kids.
"Donate what you can for the kids," Graham said during the third day of the challenge. "That reason why we are sitting here, suffering so much is to bring opportunities to others, so we appreciate the support."
