The New Orleans Saints are coming off of a 5-12 campaign in the NFC South with needs across the board on both the offensive and defensive side of the football heading into the first year of new head coach Kellen Moore's regime.
The Saints have questions at the quarterback position with Derek Carr having thrown for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions last season in 10 games of action.
New Orleans' defense struggled down the stretch, giving up 25 points or more in three consecutive games as the Saints stumbled to four straight losses including five of their last six games.
On Friday, the Saints were linked to national championship winning edge rusher Mykel Williams of coach Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs in Luke Easterling's latest Athlon Sports mock draft.
The versatile 6-foot-5, 265 pound defensive stalwart had 21 tackles, five sacks and caused two fumbles as a member of Bulldogs defensive coordinator Greg Schumann's unit last season in Athens.
He helped lead Georgia to the 2022 national championship with a strong season on defense.
"Cam Jordan has been one of the league's most consistent edge rushers for more than a decade in New Orleans, but his time with the franchise might be coming to an end, so it's time to find his replacement," Easterling wrote.
"Williams was banged up a bit last season, but when he was playing at full strength, he was a disruptive force."
The Saints currently hold the ninth, 40th, 71st and 93rd picks in this year's draft.
