Carr, who has remained with the Saints team for the third year, confirmed his injury during a guest sermon at a church in Las Vegas on Sunday. It was his first time speaking publicly since news broke earlier in April his season could be in jeopardy if he elects surgery.
Carr also talked about how speculations surrounding his injury had affected him personally.

“I’ve been dealing with people lying about me and I’ve been dealing with them saying this and this and that,” Carr said. “And I’m like, ‘Lord, why do I have to continue to deal with this nonsense? Like, what is going on?’ And I say that to preface with you never know what someone’s really going through.”

Carr has not been at the Saints’ facility during offseason workouts. He was scheduled to visit the team in New Orleans with his wife earlier in the offseason, but the visit was put on hold when his wife was admitted to the emergency room and had a miscarriage.
“And we didn’t know we had a baby. So now we’re hit with this emotional toll of, ‘wait, we had a child?’” Carr said. “But I say all that to say, ‘Let’s be people that (don’t) judge and point out and just think the worst when you don’t really know what people are going through.”

The Saints added to their quarterback room last weekend when they drafted Tyler Shough, a former quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals, during the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said there is going to be a competition to see which player will play as quarterback for the team, but said Carr will be the starter if he’s healthy.
