Saints RB Alvin Kamara confirms suspicion about himself during altercation between coach and teammate

The New Orleans Saints have a star running back. They extended him this season and expect him to be a key contributor over the next two seasons. Alvin Kamara has had an impact on New Orleans' roster further than the field as well, though.

The Saints running back got a new promotion inside the locker room this season. When Darren Rizzi was elevated to interim head coach, he named Kamara a team captain.

Somehow, Kamara was not already a captain under Dennis Allen. That should tell you plenty about some of the decision-making from the former HC in New Orleans.

Regardless, Kamara's leadership was on full display during the team's win over the New York Giants in Week 14. During a fiery interaction between his head coach and punter Matthew Hayball, Kamara stepped in to help cooler heads prevail.

Rizzi said that Kamara was being a leader by stepping in to try to calm the coach down. The interim HC for New Orleans was frustrated with a mishandled punt by Hayball that was returned for a touchdown. It got brought back due to a penalty on the Giants, though.

Regardless, the veteran RB made sure to help out his coach and teammate on the sideline.

For Kamara, he is a player that everyone respects, and he also holds high esteem around the NFL.

You'll often see him playfully jawing with opposing teams' defenders after a nice play by either side. Everyone knows that he has deserved his new role for quite some time.

On Sunday, it was on full display, and the Saints are thankful for that and him.
