The New Orleans Saints are shifting to a new offense under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Expect a lot more pre-snap motion, and the OC has said that play-action can be a key to modern offenses in the NFL. For Derek Carr, that's great news from his new coach.
One veteran player thinks that defenses will be confused by the Saints' new offensive scheme - in a good way for New Orleans.
Saints RB Jamaal Williams is excited about the new offense
“It’s got me so excited because I already know what type of mentality it is because I’ve seen it from the other side and just being like, ‘What is happening right now?’"
"When I was watching film, I was like 'why have I seen this before?' cause I am on the side watching Raheem Mostert go crazy.... Now that I know that our boy is here, I am so excited. I know what type of mentality it is cause I've seen it."
-- Williams on the Saints' new offense
Clearly, Williams believes that the changes will be quite notable for the black and gold. Fans became frustrated with the stale play-calling of Pete Carmichael Jr. over the past couple of seasons. Now, they will get a brand new perspective of how a game plan on offense can unfold.
Williams has seen it around the league from other teams, but now he's learning this sort of scheme for himself. His comments are really a breath of fresh air for Saints fans.
Williams was also involved in a unique offseason opportunity, too. He was the highlighted player for the NFL's Player's Choice program on NFL Network.
The Saints running back posted about his special chance for the channel on social media.
If you missed it, keep an eye out for another chance to check out the program via Williams' social media.
All in all, the veteran RB won't start for New Orleans this season, but he is expected to play an important role out of the backfield for Klint Kubiak. He is ready for the changes coming to their play-calling and mindset.
