Saints' season-long worry becomes reality before they even play on Monday Night Football

The New Orleans Saints got a lump of coal just a few days before Christmas. Without even playing yet in Week 16, they've already been handed a tough reality that the organization desperately needed to avoid during this season.

Saints eliminated from playoff contention

The Falcons' win over the Giants officially eliminated New Orleans. With three games left, they have no shot at making the postseason.

It's the fourth straight season for the Saints without a playoff appearance. Their consistency during the Sean Payton era seems like a distant dream for fans of the black and gold.

As of now, the Saints still hold the tenth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. If they lose to the Green Bay Packers on Monday evening, they will remain in that spot.

Three teams currently sit directly ahead of New Orleans in the order with four wins.

Now, everyone must look ahead for New Orleans. The 2025 NFL Draft, a potential roster shuffle, and a head coach search will all be involved this offseason for the Saints, and they simply must make the correct decisions in every sector.
