The New Orleans Saints have been quite lucky at one position since 2019. That's when they added veteran linebacker Demario Davis to their defense.
Since then, they've had an energetic leader that has produced at a Pro Bowl level for a handful of years in New Orleans. The NFL holds a lot of respect for Davis' talent and longevity - as they should.
Demario Davis received another honor for his longevity
Dallas Robinson for Pro Football Network included Davis on his All-NFL decade team. The group includes some of the best talents of this generation of pro football.
A late bloomer in the NFL, Demario Davis has become a genuine force since signing with the Saints in 2019. He’s received a first- or second-team All-Pro nod in five consecutive seasons and has been named a Pro Bowler the last two. His 6.5 sacks in 2023 ranked second among off-ball linebackers.
Davis is in his mid-30s, but he has not allowed that to be an excuse. He still expects All-Pro level of play from himself, and he's played to that level during his career in black and gold. Robinson is correct to add him to this list.
Fred Warner, Bobby Wagner, and Roquan Smith are the other linebackers included
Keep in mind - Davis dominated some of the practices during OTAs for the Saints. His age is not slowing him down whatsoever so far.
The Pro Bowl linebacker is not taking it easy on the young guys. He knows that their best chance to improve is to play against the best of the best. Many will agree that Davis is that sort of LB in the league. -- A to Z Sports
Expect Davis to lead one of the best LB cores in the NFL in 2024.
