The San Francisco 49ers have provided a medical update on defensive end Tarron Jackson, who was hospitalized following a frightening injury during a recent training camp session.
Jackson collapsed during 11-on-11 drills after contact with offensive lineman Isaac Alarcón, according to team reporters. The incident occurred roughly one hour into Sunday’s practice, prompting immediate response from team trainers and staff. Jackson lay motionless on the field for several minutes before showing limited movement in his hands.
He was quickly immobilized and transported to Stanford Medical Center for further evaluation. The 27-year-old was conscious and able to move all extremities at the time of his departure, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, who called the moment “real scary” for both players and coaches.
“It shook all of us up,” Shanahan told reporters. “But we’re thankful he had movement and is receiving the care he needs.”
The 49ers later confirmed that Jackson underwent a full series of neurological tests and remains under observation. Early signs are positive, and the team says he is in stable condition.
Jackson signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers in January and had been competing for a spot on the 53-man roster. Known for his work ethic and resilience, Jackson previously spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and was a standout at Coastal Carolina.
His status for the remainder of training camp remains uncertain, but team officials emphasized that his long-term health is the top priority.
