Equanimeous, 28, trained with the 49ers on Monday ahead of signing his contract on Tuesday.
He has been in the NFL since 2018 after becoming a sixth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers.
He has also played for the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints
ESPN's Nick Waggoner believes the acquisition will give 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan a "little depth".
The new St. Brown does boast 63 career catches for 928 yards and has two touchdowns.
This is important as it appears that Aiyuk will not be back on the field for some time.
General manager John Lynch has revealed that there is no timeline in place for the star wide receiver.
He said: "[Aiyuk is] not anywhere close to having a concrete timeline."
Aiyuk has not played since October 2024 as he suffered a season-ending knee injury,
He injured both his ACL and MCL and is continuing with his rehab.
Brock Purdy takes swipe at ex-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo
Lynch added: "With respect to B.A., he did a lot to his knee.
"I would tell you that he's in a really good place, considering all that
"Now, what does that mean in terms of a timeline and all that?
"We're continuing to assess and get information.
"He did a lot of his rehab away from here, and so, I think, when you get these guys back, there's all kinds of objective measurements that you want to do.
