The Vanderpump Rules mom also spilled on her recent reunion with Mike Shay.
Scheana Shay has no plans to ditch her ex-husband’s last name.
The Vanderpump Rules mom made this very clear during the January 31 episode of her Scheananigans podcast, where she answered a slew of questions about her upcoming memoir, My Good Side.
At around the 9-minute mark, Scheana addressed a commonly asked question regarding her continued use of Mike Shay’s surname despite having divorced him nearly eight years ago. Scheana, who is now married to Brock Davies, pushed back on any criticism of the decision, explaining she didn’t change her last name for career-related reasons.
Does Scheana regret taking Mike Shay's surname?
“So, I don’t know how many times I’m going to have to address this, but no matter how many times I do, I feel like it’s still probably one of the things people ask about the most,” she said. “I have built a professional career as Scheana Shay… It was like, do I go back to Scheana Marie? I tried, [but] it wasn’t really sticking. [Scheana Shay] was the name I was going by professionally.”
The former SUR-ver said she considered going back to her maiden name after she and Mike divorced in 2017 but didn’t want to have to change it again if and when she got remarried.
“I mean, my businesses, my retirement, my will, my trust, my houses, my everything is tied up in this name,” she continued. “So if I could go back in time, I don’t know, maybe I would have never even changed my name to Scheana Shay, professionally, because then I’m altering my professional name around a man who I’m obviously no longer with. But I was young. I believed in forever and the prospect of divorce wasn’t even on my mind. I took my vows seriously, you know, for better or worse.”
How does Brock Davies feel about Scheana's surname?
Scheana highlighted several celebrities who also kept their first husbands’ names after getting a divorce and remarried, saying the moniker was simply part of their “brand.” However, she told listeners that she goes by “Scheana Davies” in her personal life.
“I am Scheana Davies, I am Mrs. Davies. We are the Davies family,” she said. “It genuinely does not bother Brock that I use this name. And also, I did recently have lunch with [Mike] and I asked him point blank. And it does not bother him either. So if it doesn’t bother the ex-husband, it doesn’t bother the current husband, again, I don’t know why it bothers all of you.”
