Scott Laughton looking forward to chirping Travis Konecny in Flyers reunion

The former Flyers leader is going to have his hands full with Travis Konecny on Tuesday night.

Konecny Laughton

Scott Laughton was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2012 and was a member of the organization for nearly 14 years before being traded earlier this month. Laughton played 661 games across 12 seasons with the Flyers but now has a new home with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Laughton was an integral part of the Flyers locker room and it’s sure to be weird to see him in Blue and White when the Orange and Black face off against the Leafs in Toronto on Tuesday night.

While it’s just another game in the schedule in the grand scheme of things, Laughton acknowledged that it’ll be odd to play against his former club just weeks after being traded.

While it’s just another game in the schedule in the grand scheme of things, Laughton acknowledged that it’ll be odd to play against his former club just weeks after being traded.

“It’s going to be weird but hopefully I beat ’em,” Laughton said with a smirk.

When asked about which player it might be odd to play against, Laughton immediately had an answer.

“Konecny. We’ve talked about it our whole careers if we play against each other,” he said. “We usually like to chirp a little bit and be in there so it’ll be pretty funny seeing him on the other side. It’s another game, maybe a little bit more important, but it’s going to be weird.”

Laughton and Travis Konecny were teammates since the latter was drafted in 2015. They were linemates during the 2019-20 season and helped produce one of the most iconic photos from that season.

The two will now be on opposite sides and you know they’ll be going at it. Konecny should be feeling himself a bit as well with goals in back-to-back games.

The Flyers may not have much to play for the rest of the season, but they’ll want to put a good performance together against Laughton and the Leafs. The former Flyer has no points in his first eight games in Toronto and has had his role slightly limited down to the fourth line.
