Get ready, Intelligence Unit fans — Chicago P.D. is coming back for Season 13 this fall, and it's already shaping up to be one of the most emotional, high-stakes seasons yet.
After a rollercoaster Season 12 that ended with heartbreak, explosive twists, and a major character death, NBC has confirmed that the beloved police procedural will return this fall 2025 as part of its powerhouse One Chicago Wednesday lineup.
While exact premiere dates are still under wraps, fans can expect the new season to hit screens around late September or early October, following the network’s usual schedule.
So what’s in store for the new season?
According to showrunner Gwen Sigan, Season 13 will dive deeper into the aftermath of the finale’s most emotional moments — including Voight’s personal reckoning, the fallout of his split from Chapman, and how the team processes their latest loss. “We’re going to see a very different Voight,” Sigan teased. “One who’s questioning everything.”
Fans can also expect more screen time for newer team members, deeper arcs for Burgess and Ruzek after their unconventional wedding, and a return to the show’s signature moral gray zones. “It’s going to be dark, intimate, and very character-driven,” Sigan promised.
And yes — a few surprises are in store. With rumors swirling about guest appearances and possible crossovers with Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, the One Chicago universe is more connected than ever.
Bottom line? Chicago P.D. is coming back with a vengeance — and you won’t want to miss a second of it.
