Despite coming onto the scene as an impostor trying to fool everyone that she was Abigail come back to life, Cat exudes humility on Days of our Lives. She’s worked very hard to change Chad’s perception of her, since it was the villain Clyde Weston who forced her to impersonate the dead woman, and she feels bad for her actions. As things start to thaw between them and sparks fly, the stories have opened themselves up to a possible pairing, and AnnaLynne McCord had some things to say about it.

A Hopeless Romantic

McCord recently opened up to Soap Opera Digest about the possibility, and was asked if Cat and Chad (Billy Flynn) could one day have a regular relationship. She remarked that Cat is constantly looking for the hope that she and Chad will get together, hilariously remarking that she finds hope in nearly everything. “The wind blows, and she gets hope,” she laughed.

But although she sees signs that they’ll become a couple around every corner, Cat’s quick to downplay it to herself and lower her expectations. The actress felt that while Cat gets why people are still angry with her, “Deep down, she is just a hopeless romantic.”

Beyond Smitten

McCord also remarked that if Chad even throws a glance at Cat, she finds hope in it that there could be a future together. She explained that while Cat was focused on pretending to be Abigail, when the scenes came up where Chad stated the wedding vows he had said to his late wife (thinking Cat was Abby), she realized he was the real deal. Chad’s love for his former wife melted Cat while simultaneously making her feel bad for hoodwinking him.

“I was supposed to do the thing I was supposed to do and then wash my hands of this family,” she explained of Cat’s mission. She stated that Chad’s masculine energy appealed to Cat’s feminine energy as he poured out his feelings for his former wife. As a result, Cat couldn’t help but fall under Chad’s spell, and McCord explained, “She got stuck in that little trope, and now she’s hopelessly smitten.”
