Shed 20 Pounds in Silence — Now This Packers Star Vows to Win Back Titletown

Packers' Jenkins says he's OK with his position switch

The buzz around Green Bay this summer hasn’t just been about rookies or quarterback depth—it’s been about reinvention. And one veteran has become the unexpected face of that transformation: Elgton Jenkins.

Once viewed as a high-priced fixture on the interior offensive line, Jenkins found himself under scrutiny. Critics said he’d lost a step. That his frame was working against him. That the Pro Bowl days were behind him—and the contract, too large to justify.

So Jenkins got quiet. Then he got to work.

“They said I was too bulky, too limited — just a Pro Bowl name with a bloated contract,” Jenkins said after a July practice.
“So I dropped 20 pounds, sharpened my footwork, and now I’m switching to center to prove I’m worth every cent. This is my comeback season.”

The message was clear: he didn’t come to fade away — he came to fight.

Now weighing in at 311 pounds on a 6-foot-5 frame, Jenkins enters 2025 not as a guard, but as the projected starting center for the Packers. It’s a move that stunned some, excited others, and reinvigorated a line that desperately needed stability.

Coaches have praised his improved quickness and conditioning. Teammates say he looks “like a new version” of the man who once bulldozed defenders with raw strength. He’s leaner, lighter on his feet, and laser-focused.

This transition isn’t just about silencing critics—it’s about restoring pride in a unit that’s struggled to protect and dominate in recent years. And for Jenkins, it’s personal.

“This isn’t just about one season. It’s about getting back to the top. This team, this city, deserves another shot at a title—and I want to be right in the middle of it,” he added.

After 77 games and two Pro Bowl nods, Jenkins isn’t chasing glory—he’s chasing redemption.

If his physical transformation is any indication, he might just lead the Packers’ return to Titletown not with noise, but with the kind of silent, relentless effort that defines greatness.
