Although he’s expressed interest in having kids someday, Shep Rose admits he’s not all that comfortable around newborns.
The Southern Charm cast member revealed this during a recent interview with Decider, explaining why he has yet to officially meet Madison LeCroy’s 1-month-old daughter, Teddi LeCroy Randle.
“I have not met the baby,” Shep said. “I’m scared around newborns. I’m like, ‘Ah! Someone’s gonna drop it or something like that.’ I don’t know what to do. I’m gonna give it time to get a little meat on its bones.
Madison and her husband, Brett Randle, welcomed Teddi on June 29, just several months after Madison announced her pregnancy. The South Carolina mom, who has a 12-year-old son from a previous marriage, dropped the big news while filming the Southern Charm Season 10 reunion — a moment that left her fellow Southern Charm-ers pleasantly surprised.
Madison LeCroy predicts how Shep Rose will react to meeting her baby
Madison recalled her castmates’ reaction in a February interview with Parents magazine, and said she couldn’t wait to see Shep and Austen Kroll interact with her newborn.
“It’ll be funny to see them holding the baby — you know how nervous guys get, especially with a newborn,” she told the outlet. “I had lunch with the guys, and they’re like, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ They will be a little intimidated, but I can’t wait to see it.”
Madison said Shep had also asked if he needed to bring a gift when meeting her baby, as he was considering giving the infant a cup.
“Austen and I joked and told him, ‘Well, maybe just bring your silver spoon!’” Madison said.
Does Shep Rose see kids in his future?
Despite his lingering baby fears, Shep has envisioned himself becoming a father. He addressed the topic in Southern Charm Season 10, Episode 11, when he was still dating Sienna Evans. Shep told the former beauty pageant queen about his hopes for their future and potentially starting a family.
“We had a lot of fun. Then, it got hotter and heavier, as far as what we were saying to one another. And I thought that maybe the universe had brought us together,” he said. “You would mention to me that, ‘Oh we would have the prettiest babies,’ We would have these beautiful and smart kids… They would be connected to nature and the ocean, and we would just live all over the world and have adventures. This was in my mind.”
The conversation didn’t go as Shep planned, as Sienna was seemingly surprised by his comments.
“Shep, I never knew that you were thinking like that!” she said.
The pair eventually called it quits in 2024.
