“She’s My Mirror — And My Reason to Keep Going”: Kathryn Dennis Reflects on Her Relationship with Daughter Kensie Amid Life’s Challenges

Kathryn Dennis, former star of Southern Charm, recently shared a heartfelt post on social media, gushing over how much her daughter, Kensie, has grown. The 11-year-old has become a mini version of her mother, with strikingly similar facial features.

In an Instagram selfie posted on July 29, Dennis, 33, captured a tender moment with her daughter. “Love over all, truth on the way [also bad bronzer day lol oh well],” she captioned the photo, expressing her deep bond with Kensie. She added that love and truth are what keep her grounded, emphasizing the importance of these values in her life.

Kathryn Dennis shares both Kensie and her 9-year-old son, Saint, with her ex-partner Thomas Ravenel. Since their split in 2016, Dennis and Ravenel have navigated a complex and highly publicized custody battle, which culminated in Ravenel being granted sole custody of the children in February 2023. Despite the decision, Dennis maintains supervised visitation rights every other weekend.

The reality star has been open about the challenges of seeing her children only intermittently due to their custody agreement. Reflecting on her emotions, Dennis posted a message in September 2023 alongside photos of herself, Kensie, and Saint spending time together. "When I am with you I feel so alive again… even when you can't see me or hear me, I am always thinking of you," she wrote. She added that the bond of love between them is strong, even during tough times, expressing hope for the future.

Dennis also shared her thoughts on co-parenting, acknowledging the difficulty of being separated from her children. “No matter the situation, being without your children is the most difficult pain,” she said. She expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received from others in similar situations, reminding her followers of the importance of love and hope during difficult times.

Over the years, Dennis has faced her share of challenges, including legal issues. In May 2024, she was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a car accident. South Carolina police confirmed that she had the odor of alcohol on her and exhibited signs of intoxication. Dennis later requested a continuance in court, and a jury trial was scheduled.

After eight seasons on Southern Charm, Dennis announced her departure from the show in January 2023, reflecting on her time with the series. "What a wild ride it's been!" she wrote, remembering how she started as a 21-year-old in the first season. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to grow up on TV, raise her children, and build lasting friendships.

Dennis thanked her fans for their unwavering support, which gave her the strength to face life's challenges. She expressed her deep appreciation for the love she’s received, which has been a constant source of strength as she transitions into a new chapter of her life, away from the spotlight of Southern Charm.
